White Sands at Sunset
In the middle of White Sands National Monument, dunes extend in all directions almost as far as the eye can see. A mountain range marks the edge of the salty desert. Up close, the dunes have a fascinating texture. I like this panorama because both the mountains in the background and the wind-blown pockmarks in the foreground are in focus. The curves of the mountain in the upper-right corner of the photograph also mimic the small depression in the lower-left foreground.
