Shadows in Portugal

While traveling in Portugal about 7 years ago, I stopped in a small town on the coast and shot this photo of a building just in from the cliffs on the coast.  I was using only film at the time- I think it was TMAX 400 speed B&W film on my grandfather’s old Canon FTb.  Looking back at this roll of film, it helps me realize that shadows, texture, and pattern have always interested me in photographs.  I really like the grain that the film gave the image.

  1. Really like the lines and shadows here – the awning going at an angle to the stairs adds a dynamic feeling to the composition.
