Hay Pass

After spending a lightning-filled, wet night near Glacier Lake (see last week’s post), we dried off in the morning sun, packed up, and headed north towards Hay Pass and Dennis Lake. Hay Pass crosses the Divide at about 11,000 feet. The saddle at the top of the pass provides one of the first views of the Northern Winds- Angel Peak and pass to the west, and Harrower Peak, Douglas Peak, and Mt Quintet to the northwest and north. I stopped before reaching the saddle to photograph a series of erratics, boulders left by retreating glaciers, and empty glacial cirques.
