While staying near Puerto Peñasco, I ate lunch on the Cerro La Ballena, a hill above the town that looks over the sea. I noticed the sun piercing through a line of approaching storm clouds over the Sea of Cortez and took a panorama of the scene.

Early in January, I spent a few days near Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. I always enjoy the scenery along Arizona 85 and Mexico 8. On this trip, I stopped along Mexico 8 and took a few photographs of the road and surrounding desert and mountains. I’ll post more from the coast in the coming weeks.

I recently photographed a series of sunrises and mountain ranges between Sonoyta and Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Here are two of my favorite panoramas from the area.
Abandoned and decaying structures fascinate me. These types of buildings are scattered across the landscape along the road from Sonoyta to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. While driving through the area a few weeks ago, I stopped to photograph a few of these structures.
