Paradise Loop Trail on Mt Rainier

My favorite part of the Paradise Loop trail was the less busy return (counter clockwise)- wonderful views of the Mountain, mossy streams, and rolling hillsides.

Autumn Colors on Flanks of Mt Rainier

On one of the last clear weekends this fall, I took a hike around the Paradise Loop trail on Mt Rainier. I hadn’t been over to this side of the Park in clear weather- despite the crowds on the hike up to Glacier Vista and Panorama Point, the views of the glaciers and summit are spectacular (and the number of people dropped off on the east side of the loop).

Meltwater from Glaciers on Rainier

After a quick hike from the White River camping area to Sunrise on Mt. Rainier, I used a Neutral Density filter to take a bulb exposure panorama of the grey meltwater of the White River on my way out of the park.

Spring Hike at Mt. Rainier

In early June, I took a quick hike from the White River camping area to Sunrise on Mt. Rainier. A lenticular cloud was draped over the summit of the mountain, and the air smelled of pine and melting snow. This was my first visit to the park, and I was amazed at how large the mountain appears when hiking on its flanks.
